Company members, living in four different cities, embark on an uncharted creative course using Skype, video and audio posts, and email to communicate, create and collaboratively construct their new show over a distance of 4,238 miles. Taking inspiration from the process itself, the project explores distance, the ways we experience, cope with, and calculate what is near and far.
Through a series of characters, from a submariner deep below the ocean surface, to a genetic researcher looking far into her past, to a lonely city girl surrounded by strangers close enough to touch, the ensemble finds the humor and heartache, the awesome and the absurd, in a mix of overlapping stories that measure the distances that divide and the need to connect.
